The Lead Shielded Compact Source Storage Safe – 40 mm is designed for secure storage of radioactive sources, radiopharmaceuticals, and calibration standards in nuclear medicine, isotope production, and research facilities.

With internal dimensions of 284 × 284 × 283 mm, it offers a slightly reduced internal height compared to the SC1440, making it ideal for applications requiring a more compact vertical footprint while still providing generous space for lead pigs, source containers, or sealed isotopes. The safe features 40 mm thick lead shielding integrated into all walls, the door, and the base, delivering high-level gamma radiation attenuation from every angle.

A heavy-duty steel exterior reinforces the structure for maximum mechanical strength, The secure locking mechanism ensures access is restricted to authorised personnel only, meeting stringent radiation safety standards.

Both the interior and exterior are coated with a durable epoxy paint, creating a smooth, easy-to-clean surface that is resistant to scratches, wear, and chemical disinfectants. The finish is available in multiple colours to suit facility standards or workflow organisation.

In addition to standalone use, the SC1440-2 can be supplied as part of a custom source storage setup. These setups may consist of multiple SC1440-2 units placed side-by-side and/or stacked — for example, in 4×4 or 1×3 configurations — to create high-capacity shielded storage systems. All multi-unit configurations are custom-built on request to meet the facility’s specific spatial, workflow, and safety requirements.
