Lead Shielded Doors
Heavy-duty sliding door for radiation shielding applications. Lead panel sandwiched between steel plates, mounted on overhead rail system. Custom manufactured to your opening dimensions and lead thickness requirements. Suitable for large openings where swing doors are not practical.

Product description
When swing doors are not practical due to space constraints or the weight of thick lead shielding, a sliding door provides the solution. Nuclear Shields manufactures lead shielded sliding doors for nuclear facilities, research centers, and industrial applications where large openings require reliable radiation protection.
Overhead rail system for heavy shielding
Our sliding doors run on overhead rail systems engineered to handle substantial weight. The rail carries the full load of the door panel, allowing smooth operation even with thick lead shielding. The suspension hardware is sized specifically for each door based on panel weight and expected usage frequency.
Rigid door panel construction
The door panel consists of lead shielding sandwiched between steel plates, mounted in a rigid frame that prevents sagging or warping over time. We design the panel thickness and frame construction to maintain flatness across the full door height, ensuring consistent shielding performance and proper sealing against the frame.
Manual or motorized operation
Depending on door size and how often it needs to open, we can provide manual operation with assisted pull handles or fully motorized systems with push-button controls. Motorized doors can include safety sensors, interlocks, and integration with facility access control systems.
Engineered as a complete system
We design the rail, suspension hardware, door panel, and frame as matched components. Send us your opening dimensions, required lead thickness, and any integration requirements, and we will engineer a sliding door system that fits your facility.
