Lead Shielded Compact Source Storage Safe – 32 mm

Nuclear Energy, Radiation Shielding, Shielded Safes & Cabinets, Storage & Transport

Lead Shielded Compact Source Storage Safe – 32 mm (SKU: SC14040)

The Lead Shielded Compact Source Storage Safe – 32 mm is purpose-built for the secure storage of radioactive sources, radiopharmaceuticals, and calibration standards in nuclear medicine departments, research laboratories, and isotope production facilities.

With internal dimensions of 400 × 400 × 400 mm, it provides a generous storage capacity for lead pigs, source containers, and sealed isotopes while maintaining high shielding performance. The safe is constructed with 32 mm thick lead shielding integrated into all walls, the door, and the base, ensuring consistent gamma radiation attenuation from every side.

A heavy-duty steel outer body delivers structural strength and long-term durability, while the lead-shielded door ensures no weak points in the shielding system. The secure locking mechanism restricts access to authorised personnel only, meeting strict radiation safety requirements.

Both the interior and exterior are coated with a durable epoxy paint, creating a smooth, easy-to-clean surface that resists scratches, wear, and chemical cleaning agents. This finish is available in multiple colours, supporting facility branding or workflow colour coding.

In addition to its standalone use, the SC14040 can also be supplied as part of a custom source storage setup. These configurations may consist of multiple SC14040 units positioned side-by-side and/or stacked — for example, in 4×4 or 1×3 arrangements — creating high-capacity shielded storage systems. All multi-unit setups are custom-built on request to meet the specific spatial, workflow, and safety requirements of the facility.

With a total weight of 560 kg, the SC14040 offers a combination of large internal volume, strong shielding, and exceptional durability for demanding nuclear environments.

Key Features:

  • Internal dimensions: 400 × 400 × 400 mm

  • 32 mm lead shielding in all walls, door, and base

  • Total weight: 560 kg for stability and safety
