The Shielded 200L Drum Container provides radiation protection during transport of waste drums between hot cells, sorting stations, and storage areas. The 70mm lead shielding allows operators to move radioactive waste through facility areas while maintaining dose rates at acceptable levels for personnel.

Designed for waste sorting operations

Nuclear waste sorting stations require drums to move in and out of shielded environments. This container bridges the gap between hot cell operations and facility transport. Drums containing radioactive waste are loaded into the container from the hot cell, transported to sorting or processing stations, then returned. The shielding protects workers and the facility environment throughout the transfer process.

Integrated lifting mechanism

The container includes a lifting mechanism for raising and lowering drums during loading and unloading operations. This allows drums to be transferred at the correct height for hot cell interfaces and sorting station connections without separate handling equipment.

70mm lead shielding

The lead shielding thickness is engineered for the activity levels and isotope energies typical of waste drum contents. The 70mm lead wall provides substantial gamma attenuation while keeping container weight manageable for facility crane systems and transport equipment.

Sized for standard 200L drums

The 670mm diameter and 924mm height internal dimensions accommodate standard 200L waste drums with clearance for loading and unloading. The square outer profile (934 x 934mm footprint) provides stability during transport and storage.
